Meet Meath Dairy Re-Entrant Joe Healy

Joe Healy farms in County Meath along with his parents. The farm spans 115 acres and carries 100 cows in a spring-calving, grass-based system. Cow type is a compact Friesian. Joe grazes the cows in 1-day, 1ha paddocks, aiming to enter paddocks at 1600kg DM/ha of grass cover. Cows are producing 560kg of milk solids.

Joe is aiming for 10 grazings per paddock this year.

Joe uses Epromec to worm as needed during lactation and Albex Gold during the dry period. This rotation of active ingredients helps to prevent anthelmintic resistance.
