Dose and Move or Dose and Return? Persistent Products
A question often asked – “do I go back to where I came from after dosing lambs, or move them to fresh pasture?”

When using products with persistent activity, such as those containing moxidectin, the re infection method will not work.

This is because any susceptible worms that we re consume will be killed by the drug in the animal for a prolonged period post-treatment.

So, with the likes of Moxodex, we bring susceptible worms though to the next field by leaving 10% of the mob untreated.

We shouldn’t pick the best 10%, as they will likely have strong immune systems and thus low worm burdens. Likewise, we should pick the worst 10% for obvious health and welfare issues – they likely need treatment!

Instead opt for a random 10% to skip.

What about products with zero persistency?
